St. Basil’s Vasilopita Coins

The Official Vasilopita Coins are available in two forms: First, is the Coin in a gift-worthy presentation case, complete with text of the Centuries Long Standing Tradition, an homage to St. Basil, and even a recipe for our favorite Vasilopita. This is the perfect Stocking Stuffer and the most popular. The second, is the same Coin in a protective plastic capsule, to keep as this year’s “Winner”.

Vasilopita Coins were designed and minted by Fr. George L. Papadeas. who strongly felt that wrapping a 25¢ coin in foil to hide in the Vasilopita, minimized the reward to those few that would receive the coin as a token keepsake for life. Nothing suits the tradition better than a Brilliant Gleaming Golden Coin with the image of St. Basil on the front and the image of the two-headed Eagle, one of the most important symbols of the Byzantine Empire on the reverse side, as practiced by the Byzantine and Holy Roman Empires.
